Sunflower Garden is the first Chinese park that takes sunflower as ornamental plants and is designed as a large-scale theme park. This garden was established in April 2002 and then opened to the public.

The garden is located in Wanqingsha Town, Nansha District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. It covers an area of 260,000 square meters and has one million sunflower plants, becoming the nation’s first ornamental sunflower park that adopts imported seeds (mainly from Japan). Among them are the millions of sunflower plants, the country’s first Squirrel Park with more than 1,000 squirrels, as well as places such as the Ant Kingdom and Dove Square.

Sunflowers bloom all year round. A total of 18 ornamental sunflower varieties from Europe and Japan have been introduced into the Sunflower Garden, and some varieties suitable for the sub-tropical area have been selected. Through the introduction of genes, sunflowers of red, purple, and other special colors and strong aroma are cultivated, and through scientific planning and planting, the Sunflower Garden kept 200,000 flowers in full bloom every day.

Blending with the fashion culture of Japan’s Hokkaido, this garden takes lavender as the main color and plants seven different kinds of flowers. Flowers in an area of more than 20,000 square meters form a huge colorful flower belt, constituting a seven-color rainbow on the earth, which is lively and beautiful.

There are also three lookouts, a 100-meter corridor, and two butterfly-shaped watchtowers at both ends, which provide people a good view to appreciate the sea of lavender. The viewing pavilion equipped with one aluminum-alloy-structure stage merges the stage art elements with nature, representing luxurious visual pleasure.

In 2010, Akihabara’s latest anime model was shown in Flower and Animation Harbor, giving new impetus to the 30,000 anime models and limited editions of Japanese SD dolls that had been stationed there. Among them, the Terraced Field Animation, Haixinta Animation, Global Animation, Cosplay Show, and the World Manga Drama Club will let you have complete enjoyment.

In the Flower and Animation Harbor, there are countless pictures and plots, which makes visitors feel like being in a world without sorrow and makes many of the childhood dreams and the distant wonderful world in the hearts become accessible reality.

Squirrel Valley

Sunflower Garden is novel and unique. It is different from the botanical garden, but it still owns lush grass. It is different from the zoo, but it is also equipped with Squirrel Paradise, which has more than 1000 squirrels.

Visitors can also buy a package of feed and move it to the living area by controlling the telecontrolled model car, and then many squirrels will run to grab the food. The whole design is fun and it’s a different model from the traditional zoos that put animals in the iron cages.

There is also a duck pool, where visitors can play with the ducks. There are Ant Kingdom, White Dove Square, Koi Promenades and so on. Covering an oversized 5,000-square-metre area, the “private” Squirrel Garden has hundreds of squirrels greeting you.
