Mt.Zhongshan, also known as Mt.Zijin, is the highest peak of Ningzhen Mountains, standing just outside Zhongshanmen Gate of Nanjing City. Mt.Zhongshan is an important scenic area of Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province and one of the seven ancient capitals in China's history.It covers an area of 40 km' with more than 70 famous scenic sites. The main scenic spots include Heilongtan Pool(Black Dragon Pool), Zixia(Purple Cloud) Cave, Meihua (Plum Blossom) Hill, Taohua (Peach Blossom) Wu, Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum (Tomb of Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty), Linggu Temple, etc. Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum is located at the southern foot of the west peak of Mt.Zhongshan, which was built in 1929,covering an area of 80000 mZ, and is the most magnificent building in the area.
There are also many other famous scenic spots in Nanjing,such as Mochou Lake,Xuanwu Lake, Yuhuatai Cemetery of Martyrs and Jiming Temple, and the Qinhuai River, etc.
