Day 1 Hong Kong
Victoria Peak, Man Mo Temple, Antique Tram, Stanley Market, Repulse Bay

This morning, we will first meet you at the hotel. Then, we will visit Victoria Peak. With an altitude of 554 meters, Victoria Peak is the highest point on Hong Kong Island. As one of the famous attractions in Hong Kong, it is the best place to overlook the beautiful scenery of Hong Kong and Victoria Harbour. We will take the vintage Peak Tram to the top of Victoria Peak. Peak Tram was first opened in 1888. It is the earliest funicular railway in Asia and the world.

After arriving at the top, you will see a unique and modern building, which looks like a bowl. People call it Peak Tower. It was first built in 1971 and was repaired many times. Now, it is a seven-storey building. There is an observation deck on the top of the building, the Sky Terrace 428. It can hold 500 people at a time with an area of more than 60 square meters. The highlight of the terrace is that it offers viewers a 360-degree view of Victoria Harbour and surrounding areas. Looking through the large floor-to-ceiling windows, you will definitely be surprised by the breathtaking scenery. The calm ocean is decorated with dozens of white ships and is sparkling on sunny days. The city seems smaller from the Sky Terrace 428, and countless modern urban skyscrapers like bamboo shoots rise from the ground. There are still many wonderful things waiting for your exploration.

Then, we will go to the Man Mo Temple, one of the earliest and famous temples in Hong Kong. It has a long history and was built during the Qing Dynasty (1636-1912). It mainly consists of three buildings: the Man Mo Temple, Lit Shing Kung, and Kung Sor. The God of Literature (Man Cheong) and the God of War (Mo Tai) are worshiped in the Man Mo Temple. The God of Literature holds a writing brush, and he is in charge of literature and officials in Taoism, while the God of War is armed with a long sword and wearing a green robe. People think that he is the embodiment of loyalty and is an expert in military strategy. In fact, the two gods are human beings.

In Chinese history, the ordinary people and all emperors had great respect for the God of Literature. It is said that during the Jin Dynasty (265-317), there was a man who was extremely filial to his mother. He also loved learning since he was a child. When he grew up, he read a lot. Later, he became a government official. During his period in office, he did a lot of good deeds. He cared about the people and taught people to love each other and respect their parents. But unfortunately, he died in the war for fighting against the enemy. After his death, people built temples all over the country to remember him. In view of his contribution and popularity, the Jade Emperor (the supreme deity of Taoism) made him the God of Literature. Until now, many people will worship the God of Literature to get a promotion in the company or get good grades in exams.

After lunch, we will experience the Antique Tram, namely Ding Ding Tram. It has a history of more than 100 years and has already become a popular attraction in Hong Kong. The Ding Ding Tram makes round trips between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and goes through Causeway Bay and many hot places. It covers a distance of 13 kilometers. In fact, Ding Tram is not just a kind of old transport, it could also be symbolic of trend and fashion. For example, many local young people will hold the tram party. They rent the tram and decorate it with lights and music. It could be a funky party or a lovely party. When passersby see this tram, they would also be surprised and want to join in. Everyone loves this activity which shows that the image of Ding Tram can be young and varied.

After that, we will go to the Stanley Market. It sits in the southern part of Hong Kong Island. Stanley is a beautiful coastal town. Many local people will flock to the beach to enjoy the bright and clear sunny weather during the summer. And the Stanley Market is a place visitors can not miss when they come to Stanley. Most of the goods sold in the Stanley Market are souvenirs, such as postcards and T-shirts which have the pictures of attractions in Hong Kong. And the price of those goods is negotiable, so you can display your skills of bargaining as much as you like. The market is extremely busy on weekends, because many people will visit the restaurants and bars in the market. Most of the bars there are normally semi-open, and they are decorated elegantly and meticulously. When sitting in the bar, People can have a beer and enjoy the beautiful sea.

Then, we will visit Repulse Bay. It is located in the northwest of the Stanley Market. The Repulse Bay is in a shape of a crescent. The beautiful scenery of the bay makes it one of the famous upmarket residential areas in Hong Kong. It is said that in the 19th century, the British army was stationed in the bay. And battles always happened in this place where the British army repulsed the rampant pirates. Therefore, the bay was named Repulse Bay. There are soft sand and warm water. Whether it is summer or winter, the beach attracts numerous visitors. You can see them in colorful swimsuits. And the barbecue could also be provided to visitors. So you can submerge yourself in the bay tour and enjoy the delicious food.
