8 Nights 9 Days: Beijing/Suzhou/Wuxi/Hangzhou/Shanghai
Upon arrival at the Beijing airport, your excellent China tour will begin! Our professional guide will be holding your name sign and waiting for you at the arrival hall according to your flight schedule. Afterwards, you will be transferred to the hotel in downtown Beijing. You are free to arrange your time for the rest of the day, whether to have a good rest at the hotel, or to stroll around to get some impression of the city.
Today is free for you to explore the city at your own pace. We suggest an optional excursion(USD$65/person) with lunch to the Tian'anmen Square, it is located in the center of Beijing, starting from Tian'anmen in the north, Zhengyangmen in the south, China National Museum in the East, and the Great Hall of the People in the West. It is the largest city square in the world and has been rated as one of the "16 sceneries of Beijing". Going through the Meridian Gate(Wumen), you will enter the Imperial Palace, known as the Forbidden City (closed on each Monday), it covers an area of 720,000 square meters, with a construction area of about 150,000 square meters. It is the largest existing palace-type building in the world and was selected into the list of "World Cultural Heritage" in 1987. In the afternoon, you could visit the Summer Palace, it is a royal garden of the Qing Dynasty in China and located in the western suburb of Beijing, 15 km away from the city. It is the most complete imperial garden, known as the "Royal Garden Museum", and also a national key tourist attraction. Then visit a Chinese Herbal Institute to learn about traditional Chinese medicine. This evening, you could choose to enjoy dinner at Peking Roast Duck restaurant (USD$35/person).
Today, you will have an experience of visiting the Great Wall(Juyongguan), one of the “Seven Wonders of the World” and you will have an opportunity climbing up a portion of this 3,700-mile marvel. The Great Wall is a world cultural heritage, a national key cultural relics protection unit, and an ancient Chinese military defense project. It is the largest single building since human civilization. Then visit the iconic Beijing 2008 Olympic Center, which includes the famous Bird’s Nest and Water Cube. As a comprehensive sports center, the 2008 Olympic Center, with first-class facilities and management services, undertakes domestic and foreign sports competitions and large-scale activities, and is fully open to the society with its beautiful environment and convenient transportation, providing enterprises, institutions and the general public with a variety of sports and fitness projects. Next, you will visit one of the largest Jade Exhibitions in Asia. Afterwards, you will see the skilled artisans work at a Cloisonné Factory.
Tonight, you can choose to attend the "The Golden Mask Dynasty" show (USD$50/person). It tells a romantic love story, and you could appreciate the story of the golden face queen who created a brilliant dynasty with wisdom, tolerance, trust and love.
Today you are free to explore Beijing, or you can sign up to join our popular day tour programs. In the late afternoon, our guide will transfer you to the train station and you will take the estimated high speed train G155 15:45/21:14 to Suzhou. Upon arrival, our professional local guide will transfer you to the hotel in Suzhou downtown.
Additional day tour program: In the morning, start to visit the Temple of Heaven, which is located in the south of Beijing, and east of Yongdingmen inner street, in Dongcheng District. It covers an area of 2.73 million square meters. It is a place for the ancient emperors to worship the god of heaven and pray for good harvest during Ming and Qing dynasty. In 1961, the Chinese State Council promulgated the Temple of Heaven as "A National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit". It was recognized as a "World Cultural Heritage" by UNESCO in 1998 and was officially approved as a national 5A tourist attraction by the National Tourism Administration on May 8, 2007.Then take a famous Hutong Rickshaw Tour & Local Family Visit. Hutong was mainly formed in the Yuan Dynasty in the 13th century, and has undergone hundreds of years of evolution and development. The Hutongs in Beijing usually extend from east to west, and the width is generally no more than nine meters. This package also includes a traditional Beijing Zhajiangmian (“Fried Sauce noodles”) as lunch. (Optional $79/person)
After breakfast, you will first visit the Lingering Garden, covering an area of 23,300 square meters, it is a large-scale classical private garden in China. In 1997, Suzhou Classical Gardens including Lingering Gardens were listed as World Cultural Heritage. In 2001, Lingering Garden has become a national 5A-level tourist attraction. Next, visit the Suzhou Silk Factory. After lunch, you will enjoy optional cruise along the ancient canal from the city to the picturesque Grand Canal (Optional $30/person). On both sides of the canal, there are high-rise buildings, and typical antique buildings, which makes people feel the charm of Suzhou City in different times. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Wuxi to visit the Lingshan Grand Buddha, one of China's largest Buddha statues at over 80 m tall, which is located in Wuxi Taihu National Tourism Resort. Then you will visit the Brahma Palace, which is located at the foot of the Lingling Mountain. It is 153 meters wide and 182 meters deep with a total construction area of 72000 square meters.
After breakfast, you will visit the Lihu Lake, also known as Qihu Lake or Xiaowu Lake, has always been praised for its beautiful scenery. Then you will visit a Fresh Water Pearl Farm. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Hangzhou, described by Marco Polo as "the most beautiful and magnificent city in the world". It is one of the eight ancient capitals of China with the history of more than 2,200 years. Because of its beautiful scenery, it is known as the "Paradise on Earth". This evening, you could choose to join The Romantic show of Song Cheng, it is evaluated as a must-see performance in one’s life. Hangzhou presents this show with advanced technology of light and electricity, and Hangzhou's history and culture are displayed incisively and vividly by this show. (USD$65/person).
After breakfast, you will visit the West Lake. The West Lake is surrounded by mountains on three sides, with an area of about 6.39 square kilometers. On June 24, 2011, Hangzhou West Lake was included in the World Heritage List. You may take an optional boat ride on the West Lake (USD$35/person). Then, visit No.1 Tea Plantation and taste the well-known Dragon Well Tea. It is one of the famous Chinese traditional tea. Dragon Well Tea is the best green tea in China, and many studies say that green tea is excellent for your health. After lunch, drive to Shanghai, you will have a walk at the Bund, on which stands 52 classical Renaissance buildings with different styles, which are important historical and representative buildings in modern China and one of the important landmarks in Shanghai. In November 1996, the State Council listed it in the fourth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units. At night, you could choose to enjoy "Huangpu River Night Cruise". You can enjoy the beautiful scenery on both sides of the Huangpu River by the cruise. On one side, there are exotic buildings of the world, and on the other side, there are beautiful modern buildings. "Huangpu River Night Cruise" is becoming the "new business card" for Shanghai tours. After breakfast, you will visit the Shanghai Museum (closed on each Monday), to see ancient Chinese art, furniture and jade, followed by a visit to an Emerald exhibition center. The total area of the Shanghai Museum is 39,200 square meters, covering an area of 11,000 square meters. Shanghai Museum is an architectural model combining square base and round overhanging, which has the meaning of "round heaven and square earth" in China. It has the reputation of "Half of a Country" in the cultural relics and is a large-scale museum of ancient Chinese art. Then visit the City God Temple Bazaar, which starts from Henan South Road in the west and ends at Renmin Road in the east, with a total length of 825 meters. The City God Temple Bazaar is divided into two parts. After decoration and reconstruction, the east part has retained the residential characteristics of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. In the evening, you may choose to enjoy the show "ERA The Intersection of Time" (USD$60/person)
