Both jade Buddhas are carved from a single piece of white jade and are very delicate. Both jade Buddhas were shipped to Shanghai from Burma. It is said that the original destination was not Shanghai. Shanghai was just a transit place. However, during the transfer of the jade Buddha at the pier, for some reason, one of the arms of the larger statue was broken, and people did not dare to move it anymore. So, they invited it into a local temple in Shanghai, which was then renamed, Jade Buddha Temple. So, if you go to the Jade Buddha Temple, you can see that the larger jade Buddha on one arm with a gold band. That is the place where the broken arm link. It is often draped with a piece of the light veil. This is a thing that few people know which the monks in the temple will not tell you.
