The three must-visit main palaces are the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Central Harmony, and the Hall of Preserving Harmony. In addition, there is a story about the Forbidden City. It is said that there are 9,999.5 rooms in the Forbidden City. In the Ming Dynasty, there was an emperor named Zhu Di who ordered to build an imperial palace complex(the Forbidden City) with 10,000 rooms. One night, he dreamed that he was summoned by the Jade Emperor(the supreme god in Chinese mythology, also regarded as the ‘father’ of emperor in human world), and the Jade Emperor was very angry because Zhu Di’s imperial palace complex has the same quantity of rooms with his heavenly palace (In Chinese mythology, there are 10,000 rooms in heaven). As the supreme god, he thought only he could live in a palace with 10,000 rooms. So he told Zhu Di, “Your palace can only be built with no more than 10,000 rooms.” Later, in order not to irritate Jade Emperor, Zhu Di ordered to build 9,999.5 rooms for his imperial palace complex.

At the same time, Shanghai is not only a major economic center of China but also an important transportation hub. From here you can go to almost every city in China. Day 7 Shanghai
Yu Garden, Jade Buddha Temple, Shanghai Tower, the Bund, Nanjing Road

After breakfast, we will first take you to Yu Garden (closed on Mondays). It was once a private garden in the Ming Dynasty, covering more than 40,000 square meters. Nowadays, it has become a popular attraction with the garden style of southern China, covering an area of about 20,000 square meters. It has a history of more than 400 years. When you walk into this garden, you will find some exquisite buildings, such as Sansui Hall, Huge Rockery, Wanhua Hall. Among them, we recommend that you should go to Sansui Hall for a visit. In the Qing Dynasty, it was a place for official celebrations and “proclaiming imperial edicts”, besides, it was also a place for local celebrities to hold parties. In ancient China, Sansui meant praying for a good harvest, so “Sansui Hall” got its name from it. And the eight windows at the main entrance of the hall are also carved with pictures of rice, wheat, corn, sorghum, and fruits.

Then you will tour Jade Buddha Temple. It covers an area of about 7,733 square meters. The main buildings of this temple like Hall of the Heavenly Kings, Great Buddha’s Hall and Jade Buddha Chamber located on its central axis. In addition, this temple is a good example of the combination of history and modernity in Shanghai. Although the Jade Buddha Temple is located in a bustling urban area, the inside of the temple is very quiet. The noise of the outside world is in contrast to the quietness of the temple, which shows the unique charm of Shanghai, a modern city with a strong historical atmosphere.

After lunch, we will take you to Shanghai Tower, one of the highlights of this Shanghai Luxury tour. As a landmark skyscraper in Shanghai, it has a total construction area of 578,000 square meters. It is 632 meters high, with 127 floors above ground and five floors underground. The building not only has an astonishing height but also has a large underground space. Its underground parking lot can accommodate more than 2,000 cars. When you look at this skyscraper, you will find that its outer layer is made of glass, and it is separated from the Interior buildings. The glass plays the role of thermal-protective coating, reducing the heating and cooling demand of the building. In addition, even if the glass is broken, it will attach to the protective layer and will not fall to the ground, which ensures the safety of pedestrians passing by from below. I am sure this magical trip to Shanghai Tower will become an unforgettable memory in your China luxury tour.

Then we will go to the Bund, one of the must-visit attractions in Shanghai. It is 1.5 kilometers long. As one of the most famous landmarks of Shanghai, it is also a witness to the rapid development of Shanghai. When you walk along with the Bund, you will see about 50 classical revival buildings with different styles, which are known as the World Architecture Exhibition Group. And then, you will see the City Sculpture Group. Among them, the sculpture named “Light of Pujiang River” is the most famous. It has a novel shape, combined with the image of vertical water waves and drops, like jumping musical notes.

Next, we will take you to Nanjing Road. As one of the most famous commercial streets in Shanghai, it has more than 600 shops on both sides of it. It is the earliest and most prosperous street in Shanghai, famous as “the first street in China”. When you walk on the street, you will find LEGO Shanghai Flagship Store. This store is not only full of Chinese elements but also has a lot of Shanghai’s local cultural characteristics. From the red Chinese dragon to the street scenes of old Shanghai at night, these Lego bricks will show you a fabulous world. If you are a Lego fan, you cannot miss it.
