Day 2 Beijing
Tian’anmen Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Dragon Boat.

After breakfast, we will go to visit the Tian’anmen Square. It is located at the central axis of Beijing and is the biggest city square in the world. It covers an area of 440,000 square meters, which can accommodate 1 million persons for the large-scale national activities. We all know that the Monument to the People’s Heroes, Great Hall of the People, National Museum and Tiananmen Gate Tower are located on the Tiananmen Square. In addition to those, there is one interesting design deserving your visit, the Marker of Zero Point of Highways, China. Symbolically, it is the start of all the national highways, starting from Beijing and with Arabic numeral 1 as the first number of their serial number. This marker is set on the road, at the south entrance of the southernmost city gate (Zhengyang Gate). The sign is square outside and round inside, cast in brass, 1.6 square meters. The four directions are marked in Chinese and English. In the middle of the marker is the shape of an ancient wheel with the Arabic numeral “0” engraved in the center of the wheel. The edge of the wheel is engraved with the full name of “Zero Point of Highways, China” in Chinese and English. Visitors from all over the world can understand the meaning of this marker accurately when they see it.

Later, we will go to the Forbidden City(closed on Monday). It is a royal palace, where 24 emperors had lived. It covers an area of 720,000 square meters and boasts a history of over 600 years. There are more than seventy large and small palaces inside, with more than nine thousand rooms. When you visit the Forbidden City, you will find that most of the palaces inside have yellow roofs. Why is it? Because in ancient times, yellow is a symbol of imperial power and it is only allowed to be used for the things related to the emperor. Therefore, the emperor’s home - the Forbidden City, adopts yellow as the main color for the palaces’ roofs. In addition to the roof color, the roof shapes are also different, which include at least ten styles according to statistics. Take pictures with these diverse palaces with the truly exotic atmosphere of the Orient and post them to your YouTube, which definitely will receive a lot of thump-ups.

After an authentic lunch at a local restaurant, we will head to the Summer Palace. This palace, located in the northwest suburbs of Beijing, is the last royal garden built in ancient China. The garden was rebuilt by order of Emperor Guangxu(the eleventh Emperor of the Qing dynasty, whose reign started from 1875 to1908) for the 60th birthday of Empress Dowager Cixi(Chinese empress dowager and regent who controlled ancient China for 47 years in the late Qing dynasty, 1368-1912). When viewed from the air, it presents the shape of a peach. If time allowed, you can take the Dragon Boat with your love to have a relaxing and romantic boat tour on Kunming Lake. Or you can climb to the Longevity Hill to overlook the scenery in the garden and visit these temples and pavilions there. In addition to that, the 700-meter gallery, the West Bank, the Seventeen-arch Bridge and the Suzhou Street are also the must-visit attractions on your honeymoon tour.

Day 3 Beijing
Ming Tombs, Ding Tomb, Mutianyu Great Wall,

After breakfast, we will head to the Ming Tombs, which is located in the northwest of Beijing. It takes about 1 hour(50KM) to get there. The Ming Tombs was built between 1409 and 1645, covering an area of 40 square kilometers. It is the largest existing imperial tomb complex in China with the largest number of emperor and imperial concubine tombs. There are thirteen tombs of emperors, seven tombs of imperial concubines and one tomb of eunuch. At present, only five sites are open to public: Chang Tomb, Ding Tomb, Zhao Tomb,Mao Tomb and the Sacred Way. But the only tomb that has been excavated so far is the Ding Tomb. It is said that at the very beginning, the archaeological team intended to excavate the largest and best-preserved Chang Tomb, but the investigation of the Chang tomb did not go well. So, the team finally decided to excavate the Ding Tomb first. At that time, more than 3,000 pieces of relics were excavated from the Ding Tomb, among which the emperor’s golden crown and dragon robe, as well as the empress’ phoenix coronet were the most precious. You can see these precious relics in the Ding Tomb Museum. However, due to the lack of technical conditions and relics protection knowledge at that time, these relics did not get good protection and some permanent damage was caused. Since then, in order to protect the relics in other tombs, China introduces policies to prohibit the excavation of other tombs. This is the reason why only the Ding Tomb was eventually excavated.

After lunch, we will drive northeast for about 1 hour(50KM) to the Mutianyu Great Wall. It is located in Huairou District, and was built in 1368 (Ming Dynasty). The walls of Mutianyu Great Wall are the most well-preserved walls among all the Chinese Great Wall. Besides, the section of the Mutianyu Great Wall open to the public is the longest. So it is less crowded than other Great Walls. In addition, the vegetation coverage of the Mutianyu Great Wall can reach up to 96%, which will bring tourists romantic scenery throughout the year. In spring and summer, the Great Wall looks like a dragon lying leisurely on a huge green lawn; in autumn, when the leaves turn golden, the Mutianyu Great Wall seems like a golden dragon flying in the autumn wind. We will arrange taking a cable car or chairlift to the highest point of the Great Wall to enjoy this fascinating view. Visiting the Mutianyu Great Wall will be one unforgettable thing in your China honeymoon tour.

Getting down from the Mutianyu Great Wall, we will drive back to downtown Beijing. On the way back, we will stop at a perfect site near to the Bird’s Nest (National Stadium) and Water Cube (National Aquatics Center), which have unique and beautiful design. We will leave you some time to take some pictures with the two famous architectures from outside.

Besides, it is also the largest temple in Kunming. Although the temple is located at the foot of a mountain, it is not built leaning the mountain. Walking in the temple, you will find that the further you go inward, the lower the terrain will be, which is very rare among temples. The whole temple boasts a courtyard with green hills behind it, clear pool water in the courtyard and exquisite ancient architectures. It is suitable to take some beautiful pictures for your honeymoon tour. As one of the most popular temples in Kunming, many people come here every day to burn incense and worship the Buddha for good luck and good health. If you want to pray for some good thing, you can also burn the incense to worship the Buddha. Besides, if you happen to come here on the first or fifteenth day of each Chinese lunar month, you may see a grand Buddhist event, which will deepen your impression on Chinese Buddhist culture.

Next, we will go to the Green Lake Park. It is called the Green Lake Park because of its “green water”, green bamboo in four seasons as well as green willow in spring and summer. This lake is divided into five scenic areas by the Ruan Embankment and Tang Embankment, including the attractions of Middle-lake Pavilion, Goldfish Island, Bamboo Forest Island and the Zigzag Bridge, etc. In addition to these attractions, there is one sight you cannot miss if you come here in winter. Every winter, thousands of gulls flying from the northern China to overwinter in Green Lake Park. You may see them playing on the water or scrambling for food, which adds infinite fun to the Green Lake Park. So why they come here in winter? This is because Kunming is as warm as spring in all seasons and it is suitable for gulls to overwinter here. In addition, Kunming people regard gulls as friends and love them. Furthermore, the Kunming Municipal Government introduces policies to prohibit capturing the gulls and setting off firecrackers to scare them. If you visit this park in winter, you can see this romantic and spectacular sight.

The three pagodas have a history of more than 1,000 years. The structure of the three pagodas is typical of the hollow four-square brick pagoda. Whether see the pagodas from a distance or up close, you will be shocked at their shapes and details. In addition, you can also go to the Three Pagodas Reflection Park at the rear direction of the three pagodas, where there is a pond. Day 9 Lijiang
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Spruce Meadow, Blue Moon Valley, Baisha Mural Paintings.

After breakfast, we will go to visit the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. It is the southernmost snow mountain in the northern hemisphere. This mountain is covered with snow all year round and has thirteen snow-capped peaks in succession, just like a “giant dragon” soaring in the air. We will arrange taking the cable car to admire the magnificent high-altitude scenery on the mountain. We all know that, the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is famous for its features- “steep, peculiar, gorgeous and pretty”. From the bottom to the top, there are subtropical, temperate and cold zones for visitors to visit. Experiencing three different seasons in one day will be one interesting and romantic memory of your honeymoon tour. As the temperature on the top of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is very low, so remember to bring warm clothes and wear warm shoes.

In this area of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, we will first take the cable car to the Spruce Meadow. It is an alpine meadow located at the hillside of the main peak of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, with an altitude of 3,240 meters. You need to take the cable car to reach there and then walk along a plank road to enjoy the amazing scenery there. For example, you can see the dense spruce trees around and admire the spectacular snow-covered peaks. If you are lucky, you will see many girls dressed in beautiful ethnic costumes singing and dancing at the Spruce Meadow. Besides, when you look at the Spruce Meadow as a whole, it seems like a huge green velvet blanket set at the waist of the majestic snow-capped mountains. Its delicate feature forms an obvious contrast with the cold and noble feature of the snowy mountains!

After getting down from the Spruce Meadow, we will go to visit the Blue Moon Valley. It is a lake group, which forms when the ice and snow of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain melt into water and then gathers here. The Blue Moon Valley is in a shape of a crescent moon. In a sunny day, the water there presents a color of blue. At that time, the Blue Moon Valley seems like a blue moon inlaid at the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Hence, it gets its name-Blue Moon Valley. Besides, influenced by different terrains here, the Blue Moon Valley is divided into four different lakes. Among these, the Jingtan Lake is one special lake, as its water is cooler than the other lakes. It is said that washing your hands or face with the water in this lake can take away the bad luck and bring good fortune. If you are interested in it, you can have a try. But do not drink the water in any of the lakes even it looks so clear and drinkable, because it contains copper ions, which is bad for your health.

Leaving the Blue Moon Valley, we will have lunch first, and then go to appreciate the Baisha Mural Paintings. These paintings were drawn by a number of painters of Han nationality, Tibetan minority and Naxi minority in more than 20 temples of Baisha ancient town. These murals were painted from the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to the early Qing Dynasty (1636-1912), successively lasted for more than 300 years. Among those paintings, the mural paintings in the Dabaoji temple are of the largest scale. When you walk into it, you will see that there are 12 groups of mural paintings with 167 images painted on them. These figures are of different forms and finely drawn with warm tones. In addition, if you look closely, you will see some scenes of hunting, fishing, iron making, wood cutting, weaving, etc. working scenes, as well as blooming flowers, mountains, forests, fields, birds, etc. natural scenery. They are all vivid and full of romantic atmosphere.

First Bend of Yangtze River, Tiger Leaping Gorge. Say Goodbye to Lijiang and head for Shangari-la.

After breakfast, we will drive northwest for about 3 hours(180KM) to Shangari-la. Before arriving at the destination, we will firstly arrive at the famous First Bend of Yangtze River. It is located in the Shigu Town, about 50 kilometers from Lijiang. In this area, the Yangtze River is blocked by a mountain cliff and turns into a V-shaped bend. The river water here is as smooth as a mirror with rolling green hills standing on both river banks. Besides, you will see neatly organized farmlands, villages and towns on the both sides. It is amazing to see such a romantic scenery on the plateau.

Leaving the First Bend of Yangtze River, we will keep driving forward. After about 1-hour driving(50KM), we will arrive at the second attraction-Tiger Leaping Gorge. This gorge, with a vertical height difference of more than 3,900 meters, is one of the deepest gorges in China with the Jinsha River running through from the bottom. The water of the Jinsha River here is turbulent and billowy. It is said that the narrowest point of this gorge is only 30 meters wide. The famous story about one tiger leaping over the gorge just happened here. In this story, one strong tiger was hunted by one huntsman. When the tiger ran to the narrowest point of this gorge, it leaped over this gorge only by lifting its foot slightly from the huge rock in the middle river. Finally, the tiger ran away successfully. This story has made the Tiger Leaping gorge more famous all over the world.

After breakfast, we will head to the Songzanlin Monastery. It is a large Tibetan Buddhist monastery and was originally built in 1679 AD. The shape of the temple is like an ancient castle and when you look at it from a distance, it is quite similar to the Potala Palace in Lhasa, so it has the reputation of “small Potala Palace”. As soon as entering the temple gate, you can see a steep stairway composed of 146 steps. Walk along this stairway, you will reach the top square in front of the main hall, where you can overlook the whole Shangri-La County. In addition, you can go inside the halls to admire the beautiful murals and Buddha statues. Because the temple is on a plateau of over 3,000 meters, don’t walk too fast, or you will feel uncomfortable.

After lunch, we will go to the Potatso National Park. With an average elevation of about 3,500 meters, this park consists of three parts: Shudu Lake, Mili Tangya Alpine Pasture and Bitahai Nature Reserve. Presently, only the Shudu Lake is open to the public and it is the most popular attraction for tourists. Getting there, you will see the lush forests and a meadow there. In spring and summer, the wildflowers bloom; in autumn, the forests are dyed into yellow; no matter what time you come, you will see the attractive scenery here. Besides, there is a wooden plank along the lake and you can stroll along the plank with your love to admire the surrounding attractions and take some photos to record this romantic moment for your China honeymoon tour. Inside the Shanghai tower, there is the world’s fastest elevator, which can take you to the 360-degree viewing platform on the 118th floor in only 55 seconds. It is an exciting experience on this honeymoon tour. When you arrive at the 118th floor, you will see a large transparent glass curtain wall there. According to the statistics, the maximum daily passenger flow can reach 1.7 million. Besides, when you walking on the Nanjing Road, you will see a variety of shopping malls and characteristic buildings. Among these, the Plaza 66 is the most upscale shopping mall in downtown Shanghai. You can buy almost all the mainstream luxury brands here, such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, Hermes, etc. It is worth mentioning that many international top luxury brands choosed the Plaza 66 for their first store in mainland China. From this point, we can know its important status at the Nanjing Road.

Leaving the Nanjing Road, we will go to the Bund directly. It is located on the west bank of the Huangpu River and is about 1.5 kilometers long. You can admire the charming Huangpu River view, the different styles of architectures and the romantic Waibaidu Bridge, etc. with your wife/husband here.
