Brief Introduction of Tianjin Water Park

The Main Entrance

Tianjin Water Park is an AAAA-level scenic spot, which is also the largest comprehensive park in Tianjin. It consists of three lakes (East Lake, West Lake, and South Lake) and five islands (Spring Island, Summer Island, Autumn Island, Winter Island, and Ying Island). The water surface accounts for about half of the whole park area, so it is named Tianjin Water Park.

The park is densely decorated with plants, with weeping willows along the lake, lotus roots planted in the water, and trees such as Fraxinus Chinensis and Sophora japonica growing on the boulevard. The whole park is centered on the gazebo, which is 26.5 meters high and is the highest building of the park. Standing on the platform along with the terrain, tourists can view the landscape of the whole park.

The green area inside the park is about 350,000 square meters, with nearly 200 varieties of garden flowers and trees. The zoo in the south of the park covers an area of 500,000 square meters, with over thirty animal houses and hundreds of rare animals such as pandas and golden monkeys. The Amusement Ground in Tianjin Water Park is known as “Tianjin Little Disneyland”, which includes large-scale entertainment facilities such as the roller coaster, white water surf, corsair, and flying trapeze.

History of Tianjin Water Park

In July 2009, the park underwent a large-scale upgrading and transformation, and was reputed as “West Lake in the North”.

 Bibo Village

Bibo Village is located in the southeast of the park, covering an area of more than 15,000 square meters. It is built near the lake, with blue bricks and grey tiles. The design of the village exhibits the characteristics of northern China’s manors. There is a wall engraved with a hundred Chinese characters of “Shou”, which means longevity, written by hundreds of local literati.

 Kobe Garden

Bonsai Garden

Kobe Garden is adjacent to Bibo Village. It was built by Kobe of Japan in 1988 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the friendship between Tianjin and Kobe. Japanese gardening designers explained that the design concept of this garden originated from the layout of Kobe city. The lush hills on the north side of the garden symbolize the Mount Rokko in Kobe, Little South Lake and waterfront platform symbolize the Port of Kobe, and the wide and flat lawn in the garden and the log cabin dotted on the grassland symbolize the whole city of Kobe, where tourists can feel the unique artistic design of Japanese gardens.

 Bonsai Garden

Bonsai Garden is located in the northwest of the park, adjacent to the north gate of the park. It is molded after Suzhou (a southern city of Jiangsu Province in China) traditional garden. It is the largest bonsai garden in North China. A huge stone shaped like a turtle lies at the gate of the garden, which is called “turtle longevity stone”.
