Shanghai Disneyland, the first Disney theme park in mainland China, is located in Chuansha New Town, Pudong New District, Shanghai, China. It officially opened on June 16, 2016. Shanghai Disneyland is the first in Mainland China.
 

At first, Shanghai Disneyland had six theme parks: Mickey Avenue, Gardens of Imagination, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Treasure Cove, and Adventure Isle. In 2018, a seventh theme park-Toy Story Park was added. There are also two theme hotels: Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel; one subway station: Disneyland Station, and there are many world premiere amusement projects.

 

History of Shanghai Disneyland Park

In 2009, the construction project of Shanghai Disneyland Park was officially approved by the State Council and the site was selected in Chuansha.
 

At the end of 2011, the former construction of Chuansha began to be demolished.
 

On April 8, 2011, the construction of Shanghai Disneyland park was officially started.
 

On March 8, 2016, Shanghai Disney Resort announced the first batch of real-life photos of the park on its official website. The Speed Wheel in the park will become the first attraction in the world's Disney theme parks.
 

On June 16, 2016, Shanghai Disneyland officially opened.
 

In 2018, Toy Story Park, Shanghai Disney's first expanded theme park, was officially opened.
 

On June 8, 2020, Crazy Animal City, Shanghai Disney's second expansion theme park, began to be constructed.

Gardens of Imagination

At the entrance of the park, tourists are welcomed by a tall bronze statue of Disney founders Walt Disney and Mickey to the joyous land of Shanghai Disneyland. This sculpture is a popular photo spot for each visitor.
 

Being the first garden-designed Disney park in the world, Gardens of Imagination was built to express a love for nature and the happiness from imagination. Walking over a small bridge with charming scenery, visitors will meet Mickey and his friends, and they can also go to the viewing stairs to enjoy the castle stage performance and the luminous phantom show.
 

The park includes seven gardens of different styles: Twelve Friends Garden, Music Garden, Romantic Garden, Bilin Garden, Miaoyu Garden, Fantasia Garden and Fairy Tale Castle Garden, conveying the themes of family, friendship and joy.
 

Among those gardens, Twelve Friends Park is the pioneering design of the worldwide Disneyland. In this magical garden, there are 12 large mosaic murals, vividly depicting the characters of Disney and Disney Pixar animated in the Chinese zodiac. Visitors can find their respective zodiac images, and take photos in front of this zodiac mural wall made by Chinese craftsmen.
 

In China, the Chinese zodiac has a pivotal position, which is etched on Shanghai Disney’s mind. Twelve Friends Garden perfectly integrates Disney's iconic storytelling with traditional Chinese elements.
 

Adventure Isle

Adventure Isle, filled with mysterious feelings and hidden treasures, takes visitors into a newfound ancient tribe. Here, visitors can prove themselves a real adventurer through a series of adventurous projects, like finding traces of the lost tribe or exploring natural scenes and ancient tales. Visitors who want to have a bird view of the whole landscape could have a try Soaring Over the Horizon. Roaring Rapids will carry guests into the heartland of Adventure Isle. Visitors will be stunned at Pirates of the Caribbean – Battle for the Sunken Treasure. It is an indoor drifting adventure facility. With the leading of Captain Jack Sparrow, players will go to steal the treasures. During the journey, visitors can encounter brave pirates, beautiful mermaids, and the Krakens. And they also can enjoy an elaborate play-Eye of the Storm: Captain Jack's Stunt Spectacular in the theater. How to Get to Shanghai Disneyland Park

By Bus

If you go to Shanghai Disneyland Park from Shanghai South Railway Station, you can take South Line and then walk about 15 minutes to arrive at the resort.
 

If you go to Shanghai Disneyland Park from Pudong International Airport, you should first take Airport Lope Line, then transfer to Line 991, last transfer to Pudong Line 50, and you have to walk about 10 minutes to this resort.
 

If you go to Shanghai Disneyland Park from Hongqiao International Airport, you should take Shangqing Line first, then transfer to South-South Line, and finally walk about 12 minutes.
